Six "solo" virtual events, one starting each week for six weeks, beginning on July 8.
For each event, participants will run the same course, on their own, at any time during the
allotted time period of two weeks.
No entry fee.
Events will be unsupported -- no aid stations, minimal course marking.
Each week will start on a Monday, with course description posted Sunday.
Course descriptions will be provided by a course map image, links to downloadable courses/routes in popular run tracking applications, and a downloadable .gpx file.
Courses will be in the range of 3 to 5 miles, on dirt roads and single-track trails.
A link to the course information will be posted on this website's course information page, when each course goes "live".
Competition
Series points awarded for each event--top 15 finishers in each age group.
To earn points, you must complete a course within the two-week period designated for that course.
One makeup run will be allowed, where you may complete a course after the active period and before the series end.
Accumulate points by completing as many events as possible.
Must be able to document course and time, such as with Garmin Connect or Strava.
Post your results (e.g. screenshot of app track and time) on the Ridgecrest Running event page, or submit by email.
Time submitted should be total elapsed time (counting any stops or non-moving time).
Point standings posted on othtc.com at the end of each two-week period.
Awards for the top male and female points earner in each division, at the end of the series.
Or Just Do It!
Anyone not wanting to participate in the points competition can still challenge theselves by running or hiking the routes.
Share Your Experience
Whether you want to be competitive or not, sharing your experience is strongly encouraged! Post your scenic photos, sightings of flora and fauna, selfies, and/or thoughts about running or hiking these routes.
For sharing on Facebook (the encouraged method), there will be an event page for each course on our Ridgecrest Running Facebook page, or you can submit by email.
The event page for the first course will be posted when the series begins.
Safety and Etiquette
Everyone please be aware of the inherent risks of trail running, including injury caused by tripping over rocks and other natural obstacles, poisonous snakes, effects of the heat and other weather conditions, etc.
Carry sufficient fluids to keep hydrated.
Please watch for and yield to mountain bikers, equestrians, and other trail users.
Points System
Points will be awarded to the top 15 finishers in each age group for each event in the Series. The emphasis is on participation. Run or hike as many of the courses as possible. You must participate in at least two events to be eligible for an award. We will again use the point system used by the Xterra trail race regional series', as shown below.
