This course explores some trails on White Star Ridge, starting at the Brady Trailhead. Distance for this one is around 3.7 miles. The last part of the downhill will be fast!
Turn off South China Lake Blvd. at the Brady Trailhead and pass the first parking areas. After crossing a wash, you will see a small parking area on each side of the road. The route leaves the west side parking area on a singletrack trail that heads west, then almost immediately curves left to contour along the ridge. After crossing a couple of washes, look for a trail cutting back sharply right, and take it. After a few switchbacks, the trail contours along the west side of the ridge. After crossing an uphill road, the trail returns to the road and parallels it for a short ways. Watch for the trail to leave the road again, to the right, and continue contouring along the ridge side. Keep wandering uphill until finally reaching the ridge top. Cross the ridgetop trail and start downhill on the east side of the ridge. After a couple of initial switchbacks, the trail contours until reaching another switchback at a junction. Instead of taking the switchback, keep right. Almost immediately the trail crosses a road. Head downhill on the road, and turn right at the next junction. Reaching the saddle above Lone Ridge, turn left and head downhill. Watch for a trail leaving the road on the left. You can return to the parking area via this trail, or continue on the road. (The mapped course follows the trail until it veers away from the road, then rejoins the road.)
