| Mikie's run is a good hill workout enjoyed by many of the OTHTC members.
In the summer months (when there is enough light after work) the OTHTC
has a weekly run on Mikie's on Wednesday nights after work. The run starts
at the Kajiwara's house on Javis and runs to the Rademacher hills trail
head near the tip of the ridge that runs north-south to the east of Cerro
Coso Community College.
The run is steep and usually involves a fair amount of walking on the uphill parts. It works up over 4 peaks following the main trail to the top of the fourth peak. It then follows a "road" along the top of the ridge for a few yards before cutting off to the right on a trail that works around to the left of the next little peak. After rounding this last little peak, drop down to an old mining area with a concrete slab and old tank. Going through this area, there is "road" that goes straight up the hill to a saddle. "Run" up this short but steep road to the saddle. At the saddle turn right and follow the road that goes back back down the hill to join the road near where you started working your way up to the saddle. From here just follow the road down the canyons and into the open back down the hill past a water tank on your right, and Cerro Coso College on your left to the water tank on the left side of the road. Turn left after the fence and follow the road for a short distance to a BLM trail head area. Here turn north and take the single track trail that works north-northwest back to Javis near the Kajiwara's. |
